Bracing For Raw Intelligence

On 12/5/03 at 11:24 PM (Situationist) found the brilliant nerve to write:

--->I shaved off my body hair. To my astonishment I didn't even recognize the person looking back at me afterward. If there is a better social future—it is for us to share us. Tell me what the fuck is wrong with your lives that makes you write here. Fuck Sake—let's do this. —kubhlai

Well, then, you must truly resemble one of those shockingly nude Sphynx cats now, Kubhlai. I commend you on your daring. I too, have gone through several cheap shots to the self-image via the blade since you, them, and I hustled along the streets of Paris and Amsterdam. Shaved my head, kept it shaved all through this past winter, and last spring allowed it to grow again into this spiky throwback to say London '77. Shaved the beard once or twice but despite cultural pressures to modernize, I simply don't have the jawline to pull it off, as the bone continues to deteriorate just as that young student dentist predicted it would some 20 years ago. Grew the red fuzz back in, but of course my facial hair is so spotty that to keep it short is impossible. I keep it groomed as close as I can. While some folks can opt into any number of styles, others "appear to be" more limited in their choices. Such is the fate of the ugly. It's always been a struggle for me just to be presentable. Self-admiration, not a chance...

But speaking of hair, how about the musical? Last week's performance at Towson State University just north of Baltimore was phenomenal. The bouncy number of talented individual performers, Towson students all, flinging limbs and laughter akimbo, naked and clothed, who sang delicious solos was amazing, and the fact that each song was full, vibrant, and successfully rendered made this finest musical I can recall ever seeing, not that I've seen that many. The twist of fate which improved our seating arrangements from the mediocre to the two most strategic seats in the house proved most satisfying. I had purchased tickets online ten days or so before the show. Sue, who keeps a close handle on the finances, noted that the charges had already been posted on the online account. However, while the school computer contained the records of the purchase, and there was no explanation to the contrary, our tickets were not waiting on us. Available seats would have put us far in the back off-center.

Masculine appendages no longer than man’s knowledge of himself, alpha explained, then shriveled to a cluster amid voices and vigor renewable and renewed. The story was story, told and retold, the rise and fall of empires sold amongst two or three gathered.
This snafu not only improved our own viewing pleasure but added a hint of long awaited public revenge. Although this was the first time we had seen Susanne in several years, she and I have had a somewhat comfrontational relationship, a cat and mouse game that is not so much confrontational as a persistent competition for attention between two stumbling competitors. She would deny this, of course. During intermission, as we were chatting up the show standing in the aisle at her nosebleed section which is where we might have also found ourselves were it not for the clerical mistake and some fast thinking, my comments about proximity which she had already voiced in her typical J.A.P. chagrin, teased her into opining that I was not one to shy away from attention. I sheepishly agreed, and lowered my grin a few inches closer to her face, and then growled in my feline jovial best, "Yeah, and I know that you were JEALLLLOUS the whole time." Her eyes grew larger than I'd ever seen them, as if she'd suddenly been caught in a sex act she'd sworn she'd never do.

The artists on stage were beautiful, perfectly formed, distorted, fat, thin, black, white, red all over, contentedly hairy, shy, bold, ugly, pugnacious and dramatic. Feminine shapes mounted clay forms and were hanging like fruited claims in the omniverous orchard, perky and prime suspects of the tribal fold ministering to the sweep of time then reckoning along the political and sexual axis of the 1960s. Masculine appendages no longer than man's knowledge of himself, alpha explained, then shriveled to a cluster amid voices and vigor renewable and renewed. The story was story, told and retold, the rise and fall of empires sold amongst two or three gathered. Having never seen the HAIR production in full costumed splendor before, neither on stage nor on the screen, I was impressed by the general honesty of the script which acknowledged without shuttling the shifting of the era's messages, flowing from the individual to group identity and back again straight up through what would soon enough collapse into petty jealousies every group recognizes as its own.

Took a job down at the local photo lab until the fumes finally chased me away this autumn. I toiled there nine months, catering to the some of the most self-important people I've ever met, in one of the most upscale neighborhoods in the city, took the summer off, returned on October 1, but left again by the end of the month. I now devote my time to racheting up the radio station I launched on July 2, and retooling the website.

A Need For Peter To Walk On Water

30 Mar

Date: Mon, 30 Mar 1998 06:06:26

Well, Gabriel I can understand your agony. May be I haven't seen the world as much as you did, but I can assure you that I am matured enough to understand what you are saying. I was 350Km away from my home town for a period of 4 years when I was doing my Engineering. I had to face the world myself and I learned many things then. There is a thin layer between the words 'Religious' and 'Fanatic'. I can understand that some are being led by the satan and still can not realize this. It is really a pitty. Often times people don't see the layer in which they are. I could not understand what you meant by God's government.

I will tell you one story which is often told in our churches. Once a so-called pious took the Bible to know what God wants him to do. He closed his eyes and opened the book at random. His looks fell on one verse which said "And judas hanged himself". This man was shocked and thought maybe god was kidding. Again he opened the bible and found this verse "Even you do the same". This time he was mad to see this verse. Finally, he wanted to make last attempt. When he made, the final verse that came was "this is my will said the Lord". The story ends here. You see, this is how some find the will of God. But this is going to destroy them for ever.
A true incident happened in south korea a few years back. Let me share this with you.

Two christians sisters wanted to attend a gospel meeting in a nearby village. So they started out on a rainy day. The rain became heavy and the water inundated the low lying area which they have to cross. The sisters remembered how peter walked on waters and they wanted to do the same. Of course, with faith, they had. But, the story ended sadly when their bodies were found next day. What was wrong with these sisters? They had the faith no doubt, but they lacked the descernig power. There was a need for peter to walk on water and God was willing to this, then. Where as here, they had just mental knowledge of the god and nothing else. They could not find the will of God even though they thought they had found. I agree that Christ is the only way, but you can be deceived very easily in the name of christ.

The Bible says in 1peter 5:8 "Be vigilent, be sober because your adversary walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." He is mostly after the beleiver. If we are not alert then he is going to devour us first.

Allen should also think about his family. It should be his entire family that should decide what to do. When GOD said "a man shall leave his parents and will be united with his wife and they shall be one", how can he say to a man to give a deaf ear to his wife and family. One thing I could not understand is, Is GOD calling Allen for ministry?. One can also serve GOD while doing a job as NEHEMIAH, DANIEL and EZRA did in bible.

Do you remember the story of JOSEPH in the bible?. The bible says GOD blessed the country Egypt and other neighbouring countries because of JOSEPH. When ABRAHAM pleades GOD for the life of his nephew LOT, GOD says "I will not destroy that city if five RIGHTEOUS people are present". Don't these verses show that GOD not only blesses his children but also the surroundings and the country in which they live in. Although the names I mentioned, which I said was the reason for the prosperity of America, may or may not be true but still there are many in your country who are RIGHTEOUS whose names will only be revealed in HEAVEN.

Let me tell you frankly, although I believe in GOD very firmly still I use my mind most of the times. I always look at a believer with a eye of suspition. So I am not fanatic. Well Gabriel, I didn't mean to hurt your feeling if I did I am sorry. You were very emotional in your mail and it shows how much concerned you are towards your brother.

I am looking for a job right now. But here it is not easy to get a job even though I did my Engineering. There is a saying "Try and try and try at last you will succeed," isn't it? I got to have a patience as big as Everest.

I thought of reading a poem in your mail but, I couldn't. why? By the by can you send your photographs and of course your postal address, only if you don't mind. Ah! what about your health?. How are you feeling now? Don't forget to answer my mail with all details.

Bye for now, with love.

Congratulations ole boy! Good luck in the land of Eagles and the fizzling Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers. Tim and I delivered a few stacks of BZTs there in '93, South Street, the Philly Georgetown, trendy and well-tracked, from the TattooShop eastward through the quaint quarters. Breezed past several layers of the website you're inheriting. You're sure to have fun in full steveflair in refurbishing what is indeed a rather dated look. What software packages will you be using? Will you have any support staff? Beautiful grounds. And no doubt a fine place to ogle and introduce oneself to lotsa loving nurses spanked out in spectacular white uniforms, care packaging, and concern for the life's inconsistencies great and small. Well, maybe not. No doubt they've all gone to green medical scrubs...

Scripture Bleed

Twelve Is A Lonely Number

Date: Tue May 13, 1997 6:29:29 PM

The following 12 passages have been selected from the 66 books of the Torah, the Prophets, and the Christian scriptures to represent me in all my complacency and horror at how difficult this book has been for me. The facts are that this book at face value is not so difficult to understand, not so difficult to believe that it is the greatest book ever written, or that somehow—despite every vulgar criticism and apotheosis leveled against it—that it is not a self-witnessing canon suggestive of the Word of God, of Yahweh, of the Almighty Creator, who hand-picked the sons of Abraham in all of their literal and spiritual formations as a chosen people from among other chosen people, but it is difficult to accept for this reason alone: that I have a walk-on part in this grand play, however distant from center stage or the radius point I may appear to be at any given moment, such as this one in drafting the twelve most arresting passages I have to extol or fortify myself when hope seems worthless and every activity appears vain to my own litigious mind.

12) Job 13: 1-3
Mine eyes have observed all these things. I have heard and my ears understood. What you know, I know that myself. I am no more a fool than are you. Now I will address the Most High, and to God I will turn with my plea . . .

11) II Peter 1:19-21
And we possess in this prophetic message a firm support, to which you would do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a gloomy place, until the day dawns, and the Morning Star arises in your hearts; recognizing in the first place, that no prophecy of Scripture is of a single meaning. For prophecy was never a result of human design; on the contrary, men spoke under the influence of a Holy Spirit sent from God.

10) Revelations 9:1-11
Then the fifth angel sounded; and I saw a star fall from the sky onto the land, and the key of the pit of the abyss was given to him. And he opened the pit of the abyss and smoke ascended from the pit like smoke from a great furnace; and the sun and the atmosphere were darkened from the smoke of the pit. And from the smoke there came locusts upon the land, and they were endowed with power resembling the power possessed by the scorpions of the earth. But they were commanded not to injure the herbage of the earth, nor any grass, nor any tree, but only those men who have not the mark of God upon their foreheads. And it was granted to them not to kill them, but so that they should be tormented for five months. And their torture was like that of a scorpion when it stings a man. During those days men will seek death and not find it; they shall long to die, and death will fly from them! Then the locust took the appearance of calvary disciplined for war, and on their heads were crowns like gold, and their faces resembled those of men. But they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like those of lions. They also wore breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the roar of chariots, and many horses charging in battle. They also have tails and stings like those of scorpions; and in their tails they possesses the power to torture mankind for five months. They had over them a king, the Angel of the Abyss. In Hebrew his name is Abaddon, and in Greek he has a name, Apollyon.

9) II Timothy 3:1-7
Know this, however, that in the last days there are impending terrible times. For men will be lovers of self, avaricious, empty, pretentious, libelous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, senseless, without parental affections, implacable, calumniators, profligate, inhuman, without love of goodness, traitors, reckless, stupid, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; having an appearance of religion but denying its power. But turn away from these. Of such are those who creep into families, and capture weak women laden with sins, agitated by various passions, always learning, but never able to arrive at the recognition of truth.

8) Jeremiah 15: 15-22
Everliving, You know! Remember and visit me, and avenge me upon my persecutors! Repel me not in Your anger! Support me! You know I am reproached on account of You. I found your words and devoured them, and your words were sweet and pleasant to my heart, for your NAME was fixed upon me--EVERLIVING GOD OF HOSTS! I have not sat in the company of the joyous; but felt pleasure at Your side. I sat solitary because You filled me with indignation. Why is my misery perpetual? And my wound incurable? Refusing to be healed? Why are You like failing, unstable waters? Then the Lord replied, "If you will return, then I will restore you to stand before Me. And if you sort out the worthless from the valuable, you shall be like My mouth; they will come to you and you need not go to them. I will also make for you a wall of brass as a defense against this People--they may fight against you--but they shall not overpower you, for I will be there to save and deliver you," said the EVERLIVING. "I will also deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the hand of the terrible."

8) Jeremiah 16: 16-18
"I will send many fishermen, " says the Everliving, "who will fish for them, and after them I will send many hunters, who will hunt them upon every hill, and upon every mount and cliff, and crag, for My eyes are all over their courses--they are not hidden from Me--and their faults are not concealed from My sight. But I will first repay their faults and their sins upon them double, because they have polluted My land with their filthy carcasses, and filled My inheritance with their abominations.

8) Jeremiah 17: 9-10, 23: 9-11
The heart is more false than all things, and who among men knows his own? I, the Lord, search the heart and try thoughts, and fix for each person his path . . .

My heart is broken in my breast for the Preachers—all my bones shake—I have become like a giant overcome by wine, before the EVERLASTING, and before His holy words! For the land is full of imposters—the land faints before this curse—the pastures of the plains fail, for their courses are bad, and their energies worthless! The Preacher and the Priest alike are profane.

7) Zachariah 13: 1-6
At that time a fountain will be opened for the House of David, and for the people of Jerusalem, for sin and uncleanness. And then says the LORD OF HOSTS, "I will destroy the names of their idols from the country, and they shall no longer be remembered; and I will remove their Preachers, and their foul spirit from the country. And then when a person preaches, his father and his mother who bore him will say, 'You shall not live. For you utter lies in the name of the EVERLIVING!' And his father, and the mother who bore him will stab him, when he attempts to preach! And at that time the Preachers will be ashamed, every one, of his visions when he preaches, and will not wear mantles of hair for the sake of deception, but will say, 'I am not a Prophet. I am a man who cultivates the ground. For I have been a working man from my youth!' And if he is asked, 'What are those tattooes then upon your hands? 'he will reply, 'I was marked with them in the house of my friend!"

6) Luke 15:1-7
And all the tax-farmers and the sinners were drawing near to listen to Him, but the Pharisees and professors were grumbling loudly, saying, "This fellow admits sinners, and eats with them." He accordingly addressed this parable to them: "What man among you, possessing a hundred sheep, and losing one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture, and go in search of the lost one until he has found it? And having found it, he places it with delight upon his own shoulders, and arriving at home, he calls upon his friends and neighbors to share his joy, saying, "Rejoioce with me, for I have found my lost sheep!" In the same way I tell you there will be more gladness in heaven over a converted sinner than over ninety-nine righteous persons who have no need of conversion."

5) I John 4: 16-20
God is LOVE, and whoever continues in love, dwells in God, and God in him. His love with us will be perfected when we have free access in the Day of Judgment; because as He Himself is, we also shall be, in that world. There is no fear in love. But perfect love expels fear, because fear is torture; and whoever is in fear has not reached the perfection of love. We love, because He first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar; because whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God Whom he has not seen.

4) Mark 13: 21-27
Then, if any one should say to you, 'Look, the Messiah is here!' or 'There he is!' believe it not, for false messiahs and false prophets shall make their appearance, and shall give out signs and great wonders, to lead astray, if it were possible, even the elect. But you, be on your guard, because I have foretold you all.

3) Revelation 2: 2-6
I know your position, your industry, and your patience, and that you cannot endure those who are wicked; that you have put to the test those who have called themselves apostles, and are not, and have found them false, and you have had patience and have suffered because of My Name, and have not failed. I have, however a charge against you—that you have forsaken your first love! Remember therefore, from where you have fallen, and repent, and practice your former works; failing which, and unless you alter your mind, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place. You have this to your account, however, that you hate the practices of the corrupters of the people, which I Myself also hate.

2) Revelation 11:1-13
Then he handed to me a reed like a measuring-rod, saying, "Rise up, and measure the sanctuary of God, and the altar, and those worshipping in it; but omit the outer court of the sanctuary, and measure it not because it has been given to the nations, and they shall frequent the holy city forty-two months. And I shall give to them My two witnesses, who shall preach for a period of one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. They are the two olives trees, and the two lamps placed in the sight of the Lord of the earth. And if anyone attempts to injure them, fire issues from their mouth, and will consume their enemies, and if anyone should wish to injure them, thus he must be killed. These possess the power to close up the sky, so that no rain may fall during the period of their preaching; they also have power over the waters to convert them into blood, and to scourge the earth with every plague as often as they may desire. But when they have finished their evidence, the monster coming up from the abyss shall wage war with them, and conquer them, and slay them. And their corpses shall be exposed upon the market place of the great city, which spiritually is named Sodom and Egypt, where also their Master was crucified. Then all persons from the races, and tribes, and languages, and nations, shall gaze upon their dead bodies for three days and a half, refusing to allow their corpses to be entombed. And the inhabitants of the earth will also exult over them and make merry, and they will send presents to one another, because these two prophets irritated the dwellers upon the earth. But after three days and a half, a Spirit of Life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; then great horror fell upon those who watched them. They heard a loud voice from heaven calling to them, "Come up here!" So they ascended into the heaven into the cloud, and their enemies watched them. And at that very hour there was a mighty earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and seven thousand persons were killed in the earthquake; when the rest became terrified they gave glory to the God of heaven.

1) Revelation 21: 1-2
Afterwards I saw a new sky and a new earth, because the former sky and the former earth had passed away; and the sea existed no longer.

Perpetual Weekend Drunks, While Not Unique, Can Fuck Off

What Did You Expect To See?

What Did You Expect To See?

Date: Thu, 23 May 1996 12:03:23

Mr. Hobbes, to further the discussion on the application of work to the needs of the general population I would state that both the act and the rewards of work is essential to the specific psychology of homo sapiens, more so in the current version than ever before. I look around and see a world of play gone awry, a world where kingpins feed troubled populations more and more distractions as each rely less and less on the redeeming causes and effects of a decent work ethic: kids in high risk neighborhoods being coddled by agencies and druglords with portable basketball goals which immediately are set up city alleys, blocking thru traffic because the kids ignore approaching cars in protecting their own rights to be there. Spiffy dark-tinted cars are soon pulled inside the alleys and parked next to these makeshift courts thereby protecting the playing terrain from general alley usage.

Frankly, there is nothing inherently bad or wrong in any of the above, and I applaud any efforts to reintegrate troubled youths back into a society desperate for the peace of mind most of the original forefathers—driven by powerful urges to define freedom at its roots—sought to manifest upon this continent, as have as most of the other liberal thinkers in later ages who conspired to theorize man and the earth into a state of perpetual harmony.

Happiness is not the absence of work. Happiness is the attitude inherited after completing an act of devotion which in the classically approved sense of the word in the world of physics is work. I know this is a simplification of that particular philosophy, but work cannot be abolished. Universally forgiving all debt (a Situationist idea) may very well be a brilliant move to help balance things as we know them (and I support this move as radical in theory but inconceivable in a malevolent world).
But when these acts of kindness are blanketed upon a group of kids with little regard for the truancy they inspire, we gain little of value. These same kids and transient adults haul trash from god knows where, breaking bricks, smashing glass, scattering paper all over the alley, and are noticeably absent whenever there is a group or singular effort to clean up the place. This dichotomy tells me something about a culture concerned only with riotous play, with no regard to the general protocols of tidy behavior and reciprocation to the world they draw life and fun from.

Perpetual weekend drunks (myself and my wife included) harass the grappling irons of all that I hold psychotically dear. I work at home, and have personally generated very little money over the past five years. That is not the problem though. We live quite comfortably in inner city terms. A bulk of my talents and zen psychology reside in household chores, in fact better suited for a man in these turbulent times, while wife is safely nested at office bringing in the big bucks. I realize my situation, while not unique, is not the norm, and many, including my wife's parents find our arrangement a little disconcerting. However, my wife, most of the Gabriel Thy cogniscent world, and my own corrosive inner demons reverberate in accusing me of being a sponge to calling me a workaholic. The latter because I am always on projects, artistic or household, and don't have that 9-5. got my paycheck, I can fuck off and do nothing but watch TV, drink beer, and listen to crazed decibel tunes attitude most of those who call themselves my spouse or my friend love to indulge.

A few sibling tales, notes from the underground about retirees who go gaga without a job, wizened old wits spouting parables and the love of a job well done all filtered through a superior intelligence (ha ha!) all lead me to surmize that work is important to homo sapiens, and that those who espouse NO WORK, are simply caught up in words, and miss the point completely. But it certainly will not solve extenuating problems the very nature of homo sapiens and the wobbling planet he thinks he owns but cannot control—work in tandem and in chaos to exploit.

So Mr. Hobbes, that is my response to the last question you asked me back in 1993 before our "strange E-mail relationship" dissolved for whatever reasons. I am glad you are back. I hope we can pick up where we left off. I don't know how much of the details you shared with me then are still valid but that's a good topic to explore next, don't you reckon?

And so be distressed at this recent rate of writing. While I write many letters of this sort and length almost every day, I am also a busy fellow despite my income numbers. In that sense I have always felt blessed among men. My wife is a gem, despite a few flaws I can reel off anytime, anywhere but in the spirit of good manners I will spare you any further details today. However as I was saying, I am quite busy, but am certainly glad to hear from an old friend from the early days, and have tried to share my enthusiasm with these few thoughts. And remember despite the weather changes and the price of RAM for the Macintosh, I am still...
